The LUNAR experience

LUNAR is a groundbreaking educational journey that unites the worlds of science, music, and art to bring the outer solar system to life. Inspired by The Moons Symphony and developed in collaboration with scientists, astronauts, and artists, this multi-sensory online program helps curious minds explore planetary science through emotional and creative discovery. Designed for students aged 15 and above — and for lifelong learners — each LUNAR module blends cinematic storytelling, guided science explorations, poetic reflection, and symphonic music. You’ll uncover the hidden forces shaping the solar system while unlocking your own creativity and curiosity. Whether you’re an educator, student, or simply passionate about space and the arts, LUNAR offers a new way to learn — one that connects knowledge with wonder and turns learning into an unforgettable adventure.

Amanda Lee Falkenberg

Composer, Pianist, and Founder of The Moons Symphony and LUNAR Amanda Lee Falkenberg is an award-winning Australian composer and pianist whose pioneering work bridges science, music, and art. Collaborating with NASA scientists, astronauts, and leading orchestras, she composed The Moons Symphony — a seven-movement orchestral journey inspired by the outer moons of our solar system. Her vision for LUNAR grew from a desire to ignite curiosity in learners of all ages, blending scientific discovery with emotional and creative expression. Through this multi-sensory educational program, Amanda helps students experience the wonders of planetary science through storytelling, sound, and imagination. With a career spanning film, stage, and symphonic music, Amanda’s mission is to connect audiences to the universe — and to themselves — through the universal language of music.

Trek I - Science Odyssey This course was very well presented. It has definitely inspired me learn more about Io and encouraged me to delve deeper into the nature of the other moons in our solar system as well. The science facts were presented in a clear and understandable way. I liked the analogies between fact and familiar concepts, creating a better understanding. I now have a firm mental image of what is happening to Io. The quiz questions are clear and not trying to trick or discourage a student. The printable downloads are a super reference. I think if I had a teacher like Amanda when I was growing up, I would be flying missions to Io regularly. Then I almost forgot - it was so nice to meet Zinnie along the way.

It took the one slide to make me realise that learning about the orchestra under your guidance will not be so difficult. The narrative is beautiful and captivating. This course is an excellent example of interdisciplinary content made available to students at an introductory level. It is neither intimidating nor overwhelming. It is what many might consider to be an unlikely combination of real interplanetary and lunar science, stunning artwork, poetry, orchestral music, and the study of musical instruments used in symphonies. But this combination truly comes together in a wonderful blend of elements that brings Io to the forefront and into your home or classroom. It helps us to understand what this moon is about and the celestial tug of war in which it exists. The course content is broken down into easy-to-understand sections and Amanda’s narration seamlessly connects it all together as she guides us through the course. Short quizzes allow students to check their knowledge while various downloadable worksheets allow them to participate in activities and give them opportunities to express their thoughts and opinions about the content in addition to their creative interpretations of it as well. For learners who have never thought about exploring orchestral music and choral work or who perhaps have limited exposure but never developed an appreciation for them, this course could change that. The music is an energizing and emotional experience, and the artwork brings it all to life visually. The study of Io is very engaging, it is exciting, and it left me full of a new appreciation for music and the visual arts as I anticipate the next lunar adventure!
